The five Southampton cruise terminals

Eastern Docks · Gate 4

Ocean Cruise Terminal

Berth 46, close to the old town. Of the five, it's the shortest drive from Heathrow.

Eastern Docks · Gate 4

QEII Cruise Terminal

Berths 38–39, at the far end of the Eastern Docks. Allow a few extra minutes inside the dock estate after Gate 4.

Western Docks

City Cruise Terminal

Berth 101 on Herbert Walker Avenue, the closest terminal to Southampton Central station.

Western Docks · Gate 10

Horizon Cruise Terminal

Berth 102, the newest terminal (opened 2021), next to City Cruise Terminal on West Bay Road.

Western Docks · Gate 10

Mayflower Cruise Terminal

Berth 106, towards the western end of the docks. Not within walking distance of the station, so a door-to-door car makes most sense.

Not sure which terminal?

Your cruise documents name the terminal for your sailing. The same ship can use different terminals on different dates, so check the ticket rather than last year's trip. Terminal guide →

How booking works

  1. Pick your route

Choose where you're starting, the terminal and the vehicle size above.

  2. Confirm your fixed fare

Add your exact address and flight or sailing details. The fixed fare for your journey is shown before you pay by card or choose to pay the driver.

  3. Travel

Your licensed driver meets you at arrivals or your door and drops you at the terminal. You'll receive a confirmation email with your booking reference.

Planning your cruise-day transfer

Embarkation day. Cruise lines give each cabin a check-in window. Aim to arrive inside yours rather than hours early: terminals stagger arrivals to keep queues short. Allow extra time on Saturdays and Sundays, when many sailings start and the M3 and M27 are busier.

Flying in the same day. Heathrow to the Eastern Docks is about 65 miles, typically 75–95 minutes. Leave time for immigration and baggage reclaim before the drive, and check your cruise line's latest boarding time.

Coming home. Disembarkation usually starts early in the morning. Book your pickup for the time your cruise line gives you, and see our cruise connection guide if you're flying out the same day.

Driving instead? Official port parking runs about £150 for a week and £200 for a fortnight before fuel and the M3. Our Southampton cruise parking guide covers CPS vs ABParking, off-site shuttles, and when a transfer works out cheaper.

What the fare covers

  • The whole vehicle, not a seat. Four people in an MPV from £161 works out at about £40 each from Heathrow.
  • Cruise luggage. A saloon takes up to 4 people with 2 large cases; an MPV takes up to 6 people with 4 cases.
  • Flight tracking. Your driver plans around the time you actually land.
  • A licensed driver who meets you at arrivals and drops you at your ship's dock gate, not the port entrance.
  • Fuel, tolls and waiting time. The fixed fare is confirmed before you pay, by card or to the driver.

Returns booked at the same time are quoted at 1.8× the single fare. Woodford Chauffeur Cars is a trading name of Get London Transfer Ltd, which holds Transport for London private hire operator licence 11588.

Questions

How do I book?

Choose your airport or London pickup and your cruise terminal, pick a vehicle, add your travel details and pay by card, or choose to pay the driver. You can also call or WhatsApp +44 20 8888 9988.

How much is a transfer from Heathrow to Southampton cruise terminal?

From £146 one way in a saloon, £161 in an MPV and £206 in a V Class, depending on the terminal. The exact fixed fare for your address is shown before you pay.

Can you pick us up from the ship after the cruise?

Yes. Swap the direction in the quote box, choose your terminal and airport or London address, and book the return leg for your disembarkation day.

Which vehicle do we need for cruise luggage?

Cruise suitcases are usually large. A saloon takes up to 4 people with 2 large cases; for 2–3 people with big cases, or anyone carrying formal wear bags, an MPV (up to 6 people, 4 cases) is the safer choice.

Is the price per person?

No. Every fare is for the whole vehicle, one way, including luggage.

Where does the driver meet us?

At arrivals, or at your door for a home or hotel pick-up. Your licensed driver helps with the cruise cases and takes you to your ship's dock gate rather than the port entrance.

Which dock gate will we be dropped at?

Ocean Cruise Terminal (berth 46) and QEII Cruise Terminal (berths 38–39) are in the Eastern Docks, reached through Dock Gate 4 off Canute Road. City, Horizon and Mayflower are in the Western Docks, a few minutes further along the waterfront.

Is a transfer cheaper than parking at the port?

Not usually, if you own a car. Seven nights at the terminal car parks runs about £140–£160, and off-site parking with a shuttle about £65–£95, against roughly £277 for a return transfer from Heathrow. The transfer wins when you are flying in, when the car is needed at home, or when you would rather not drive on embarkation morning.

Can we pay the driver instead of paying by card?

Yes. The fixed fare for your journey is shown before you pay, and you can pay by card or choose to pay the driver.
