Southampton Airport to cruise terminal
Southampton Airport (SOU) sits at Eastleigh, about 5 miles and 15 minutes from the cruise terminals down the M27 and A33. It is the easiest airport in the country to start a cruise from, provided someone is actually waiting for you: the airport taxi rank is small, and a short metered fare with four cases in the rain is not how you want a holiday to begin. We meet you in arrivals with a name board, load the luggage and drive straight to your ship’s terminal for a fixed price per car.

Which terminal
Tell us the ship and we take you to the right doors. Ocean and QEII terminals are in the Eastern Docks off Canute Road; City, Horizon and Mayflower (berth 106) are in the Western Docks off West Quay Road. From the airport every one of them is a quarter of an hour outside rush hour and rarely more than 25 minutes in it. Porters take luggage at the kerb.
Flights that connect well
Southampton Airport has direct flights from Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen, Belfast, Manchester, Newcastle, Dublin and the Channel Islands among others, which makes it the sensible way to reach a Southampton sailing from Scotland, the North and Ireland without a long drive or a change in London. We track the inbound flight, so an early arrival or a delay changes nothing; the driver is there when you walk through.
Back to the airport after the cruise
Disembarkation runs in timed groups from around 7am. Book the return for your allocated slot and we meet you at the terminal set-down. If the ship berths late, message us and we will move the pick-up where we can.
From Eastleigh to the quayside when winter flights run late
Southampton Airport at Eastleigh is only about five miles from the docks, roughly 15 minutes via the M27 and A33, which is why it suits passengers flying in on embarkation morning. In winter that short hop is the easy part. Fog can sit over Eastleigh on still mornings and hold up incoming flights, and the small taxi rank outside the terminal can be empty when a delayed plane finally lands. A pre-booked car takes that uncertainty away, because the driver is waiting for your flight, not for whoever happens to walk out first.
For festive and repositioning voyages it is worth thinking about the margin. A short regional flight that is an hour late in summer might still leave plenty of time before check-in, but on a dark December morning with frost on the A33 approach the buffer feels thinner. If your ship sails between 19 and 22 December, consider flying in the day before. Whichever terminal you are joining, from Ocean and QEII at Dock Gate 4 to Mayflower at Dock Gate 20, the drive from the airport is short.
- Driver tracks your flight into Eastleigh, so a fog delay simply moves the meet time.
- No relying on a thin taxi rank on a cold, dark evening.
- Warm car straight to the right dock gate, with no bus or train in between.
- Room for winter coats and extra cases at the same fixed fare.
If you are flying from a London airport later in the winter, we also run Southampton to Heathrow and Southampton to Gatwick transfers from the city.
Questions
Do you meet flights into Southampton Airport for winter and repositioning cruises?
Yes. We meet arrivals at Eastleigh in every month of the year, including for festive itineraries and one-way repositioning voyages that leave Southampton outside the main season. The fare is fixed for the vehicle with luggage included, and the short drive to any of the five terminals means even a modest flight delay rarely puts the ship at risk.
What if fog delays my flight into Southampton Airport on embarkation day?
Your driver follows the flight rather than the timetable, so the pickup moves to match the real landing time and nobody leaves without you. Because the airport is only about 15 minutes from the docks, there is often still time to make check-in. If the delay grows long, we will speak to you about timings before your ship's boarding closes.
How far is Southampton Airport from the cruise terminal?
About 5 miles. Allow 15 minutes to any of the five terminals outside the rush hour and up to 25 minutes at peak times.
Where does the driver meet me?
In the arrivals hall with a name board. The flight is tracked and your pick-up time is the actual landing time, with 60 minutes of free waiting included.
Is the fare fixed?
Yes, per car including luggage, shown before you book. Saloon, estate, MPV and larger vehicles are available in the booking form.
