From Terminal to Honey-Stone Village
The Cotswolds are spread over almost 800 square miles, so the journey from Heathrow varies more than most airport routes. Burford, the eastern gateway, is about 70 miles away, normally via the M25 north to the M40, then the A40 past Oxford and Witney. Stow-on-the-Wold, Bourton-on-the-Water and Moreton-in-Marsh are 80 to 90 miles. Broadway and Chipping Campden in the north are closer to 95, while Tetbury and Cirencester to the south are usually reached via the M4 and A419. We choose the approach that suits your destination.
The final miles are often the slowest. Many of the area's best hotels and holiday cottages are on single-track lanes, behind estate gates or several miles from the nearest main road, and satellite navigation does not always find the right entrance. Our chauffeurs plan the last stretch before collecting you, confirm access details with you or your hotel, and arrive at the front door rather than at the end of the lane. After a long-haul flight, that difference is noticeable.
Most guests travelling from Heathrow to the Cotswolds have just landed after an overnight flight from North America, the Middle East or Asia, often with a week's luggage. Your chauffeur tracks your flight, meets you with a name board in the arrivals hall and loads the bags while you settle in. The drive takes about 90 minutes to two hours, with Wi-Fi, water and climate control on board. Many guests simply sleep. We can also arrange a stop at Daylesford or a village bakery on the way.

Built Around Who's Travelling
Corporate Executives
Executives flying in for an off-site at a Cotswold country house or a board meeting near Cheltenham can work from Heathrow onwards. The car has Wi-Fi and chargers, and the chauffeur handles the route to the hotel's door. For multi-day events, we can arrange the return Heathrow transfer and transport between venues, so delegates stay on schedule without hiring cars.
VIP Travellers
Guests travelling to private estates or exclusive properties such as Soho Farmhouse or Barnsley House want privacy from the moment they land. A Maybach or S-Class, a briefed chauffeur and a route planned to the gate mean no searching for the entrance and no waiting on the drive. We keep your details confidential and share only what the chauffeur needs.
Families with Heavy Luggage
A week in a Cotswold cottage usually means suitcases, walking boots, a pushchair and sometimes a dog's bed. The V-Class carries up to seven people and six or seven large cases. Child seats are fitted before collection, and we can stop at a farm shop for supplies so you arrive at the cottage with dinner sorted and nothing more to drive for.
International Visitors
For many visitors, the Cotswolds is the first stop on a UK trip, and Heathrow is the arrival point. Your chauffeur meets you after customs, answers questions about the area on the way, and can recommend whether to visit Broadway Tower or Blenheim Palace first. If you are touring, we can arrange onward transfers to Bath, Oxford or Stratford-upon-Avon.
Woodford Chauffeur Cars vs Taxis vs UK Rail
| Woodford Chauffeur Cars | Standard taxi / minicab | UK rail | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Price certainty | Fixed quote: fuel, tolls, congestion charge/ULEZ, parking and VAT included | Metered or surge-priced; extras often added | Advance fares vary; walk-up and peak fares are high |
| Door to door | Yes: from your address to the exact terminal, entrance or lobby | Usually, but few local firms cover long distances well | No: station transfers at both ends |
| Luggage | Carried for you; the V-Class takes 6–7 large cases | Limited boot space in a standard saloon | You carry it, including on stairs and changes |
| Vehicle | Mercedes-Benz E-Class, S-Class and V-Class | Varies widely | Shared carriage; a seat isn't always guaranteed |
| Driver vetting | Licensed, DBS-checked professional chauffeurs | Licensed, but standards vary | Not applicable |
| Delays | Flight tracking and live re-routing around incidents | The driver may cancel or re-price | Strikes, engineering works and cancellations |
| Work & privacy | Quiet private cabin with Wi-Fi for confidential calls | Little privacy | Public carriage; patchy signal |
| On this route | Direct and door to door with one professional chauffeur | Heathrow taxis may refuse or meter a long rural run, and drivers unfamiliar with the Cotswolds often struggle with unsigned lanes and estate entrances. | The rail route involves the Elizabeth line or Heathrow Express into Paddington, then a Great Western Railway train on the Cotswold Line to Kingham or Moreton-in-Marsh, followed by a taxi to your village: two changes with luggage, after a long flight. Weekend engineering works on the Cotswold Line can mean replacement buses. |

Questions Before You Book
What if my flight into Heathrow is late?
We track your flight in real time, so your chauffeur adjusts automatically to delays. 60 minutes of free waiting is included from the actual landing time, which is particularly useful after long-haul flights when immigration queues can be long. If your flight is significantly delayed, we will keep your hotel informed if you would like us to.
Do you charge more for overnight or early-morning arrivals?
Many long-haul flights from North America and Asia land between 5am and 8am, and we routinely cover these arrivals. Every fare is fixed before you book: early-morning and late-night journeys have no meter, and any peak-time or holiday surcharge is shown on the booking page before you pay. Your quote is fixed when you book and includes fuel and Heathrow parking, so it will not change if your flight is delayed within the waiting period.
How much luggage can I bring?
The E-Class and S-Class take up to three passengers with two large cases each plus hand luggage. The Maybach takes up to three passengers with a lighter load. For families, groups or longer stays, the V-Class takes up to seven passengers and six or seven large cases, with space for golf clubs or a pushchair.
What is your cancellation policy?
Cancellation is free up to 24 hours before your pickup. If your flight is rescheduled, contact us with the new details and we will move your booking rather than cancel it. For bookings arranged by a hotel, estate manager or travel agent, we can confirm any changes directly with them so you do not have to.
How long does it take to get from Heathrow to the Cotswolds?
It depends on the village. Burford is about 70 miles and normally takes 1 hour 20 minutes. Stow-on-the-Wold and Bourton-on-the-Water take around 1 hour 30 to 1 hour 45, and Broadway or Chipping Campden take 1 hour 45 to 2 hours. Add 30 to 45 minutes during weekday peaks and summer weekends.
Can you find hotels and cottages on remote lanes?
Yes. Before collecting you, our chauffeurs research the final approach, including gate codes, estate entrances and the best route for a large car. If you are staying in a private rental, send us the access instructions from your host and we will plan accordingly. The aim is to arrive at the door, not at the end of the lane.
Can we stop on the way?
Yes. Popular stops include Daylesford farm shop near Kingham, a village bakery, or a supermarket for cottage supplies. Tell us when booking and we will include it in the plan and fixed quote. At non-airport pickups and stops, a free waiting allowance applies.
Do you also cover the return journey to Heathrow?
Yes. Return transfers from the Cotswolds to Heathrow are timed to your departure, the terminal and current traffic on the A40 and M40. For a morning long-haul flight, we usually recommend leaving between three and three and a half hours before departure. Many guests book both directions together.
